Step 1: Consultation
Before receiving treatment with Dr Refresh, we ask that our patients come in for a consultation to meet with Dr Gupta, our specialist medical and cosmetic dermatologist, or one of her associate dermatologists. At this consultation, we want to hear from you and learn more about your concerns. Based on our evaluation, we will determine how to go about your PRP hair treatment in Ultimo.
Step 2: Treatment
Our methods for hair loss typically include oral medication and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. You can expect to take your medication at home while you periodically return for PRP injections to boost the effects of your prescription treatments.
Step 3: Follow-Up
There are little to no side effects associated with hair loss treatment. You’ll simply continue to take your medication as directed or return for your follow-up injections for improved hair health!

How do you draw PRP from blood?
First, we take a blood sample from your vein. Then, we spin the blood sample in a centrifuge, which allows the yellow platelet-rich plasma to separate out from the rest of your blood. We then take the PRP and inject it in various locations along your scalp.
Is the PRP injection process painful?
There is indeed some discomfort during the process of withdrawing the blood and then injecting PRP back into your hair. However, with the application of prescription numbing cream one hour prior, most patients find it very mild and quite tolerable.
How long will I be taking hair loss medication?
It will take several months, if not more, to see the difference in your hair once you start taking hair loss medication. Once we find a prescription that works best for you, we recommend taking your medication indefinitely to preserve your results.
Who is a good candidate for hair loss treatment in Ultimo?
Patients who have some thinning and hair loss are the best candidates for our treatment. Our methods will reverse moderate hair loss but significant balding may need other additional treatments. In addition, patients who are on blood thinners or who have blood disorders may not be able to get a PRP injection.
