Step 1: Consultation
Before receiving treatment at Dr Refresh, we ask that our patients come in for a consultation to meet with Dr Ritu Gupta or her associate dermatologists, who are specialist medical and cosmetic dermatologists, or one of her nurses and therapists. At this consultation, we want to hear from you and learn more about your concerns. We take this time to develop a treatment plan and determine which procedures are right for you, including BBL. After outlining your treatment program, we will move forward with your next steps!
Step 2: Treatment
After outlining your treatment program, we will move forward with your next steps. Patients most often undergo a series of redness or pigmentation treatments in Ultimo to achieve their desired results. These can be anything from having laser procedures to medical prescriptions, skincare, and most often, a combination of all of the above. No matter your type of treatment, we will tailor make the best treatment for your pigmentation. rosacea, and maintenance.
Step 3: Follow-Up
Some of our procedures do require aftercare to preserve the integrity of your skin. This may include steps like avoiding makeup or sun exposure for a few days. You will likely have maintenance treatments once we have cleared your redness or pigmentation.
BBL
Targeting redness and pigmentation with broadband light (BBL), a BBL treatment selectively shuts down broken capillaries, removes pigmentation, and stimulates collagen production as an effective treatment for redness, pigmentation, and rosacea in Ultimo.
Picosecond Laser
A Picosecond laser uses ultra-short pulses to intensely treat flat age spots, pigmentation, scarring, prominent pores, and melasma in a 15- to 20-minute treatment.
ND-Yag Vascular Laser
Many types of redness are caused by broken blood vessels in the face, and ND-Yag Vascular Laser is an advanced laser system that specifically targets vascular lesions.

What causes rosacea?
Rosacea is a condition where the blood vessels are more sensitive to opening, which causes redness, flushing, and blushing. There is also a small mite called Demodex involved as well. Fairer skin and family history are also risk factors for rosacea. Dr Ritu speaks on rosacea as she educates general practitioners on this common condition.
Who is a good candidate for your pigmentation and redness treatment in Ultimo?
Almost everyone is a good candidate for our pigmentation and redness treatments at Dr Refresh! Some active skin conditions, like infections or skin rashes, may prevent you from receiving laser treatments. However, we can discuss your options at your initial consultation with us to determine a course of action that is best for you.
Are laser treatments painful?
Laser treatments are very tolerable, but deeper treatments require numbing cream. The sensation of a laser is similar to a rubber band repeatedly snapping against the skin.
What is the downtime like after laser treatment?
Depending on which devices are used, we may ask that you take some precautions in the days after your procedure for utmost safety. At Dr Refresh, we value protecting your skin at all costs, and that may include staying out of the sun while your skin heals (for resurfacing procedures only). We will provide you on exact aftercare instructions at your procedure.
