Step 1: Consultation
Before receiving treatment with Dr Refresh, we ask that our patients come in for a consultation to meet with Dr Ritu Gupta, our specialist medical and cosmetic dermatologist, or one of her associate dermatologists. At this consultation in Ultimo, we want to hear from you and learn more about your concerns. We take this time to develop a treatment plan and determine if collagen therapy treatment will help you achieve your goals.
Step 2: Treatment
We will administer the collagen treatment at a follow-up visit. Once we identify the areas for treatment, we will apply a topical anesthetic to alleviate any discomfort, and then Dr Ritu or her associate dermatologists will begin the treatment process. Usually, your appointment can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.
Step 3: Follow-Up
We will give you aftercare instructions. Because it takes time for collagen to be produced, results from your collagen treatment in Ultimo can take anywhere from several weeks to several months to develop. However, once your results are present, you can enjoy them for up to two years!

Is the treatment painful?
We always take care to apply a local anesthetic before the injection. Most patients do find the treatment quite tolerable; however, there is some discomfort involved.
What’s the difference between a collagen stimulating treatment and a volume loss treatment?
A volume loss treatment fills in parts of the face with naturally occurring substances. Its results are more immediate and focused on a specific area of the face. A collagen stimulating treatment stimulates collagen production for a more natural, widespread effect on the face. Often, Dr Ritu or her associate dermatologists may combine these treatments in one treatment session.
Are there any side effects from collagen stimulating treatments?
Patients typically experience very minimal side effects from collagen stimulating treatments. They occur after the treatment and include mild redness, swelling, and soreness in the treatment site. These side effects should subside within a few days.
