Acne affects everyone, not just teenagers, says Dr Ritu. She reveals seeing acne in infants, even women in their menopause stage. Acne affects not just a person’s appearance but also their mental state.

There are many treatments, and the right one depends on the type of acne, the patient’s condition and life stage. Dr Ritu may prescribe anti-hormonal creams or newer Vitamin A preparations, while antibiotics are usually taken together with other forms of treatment.

Dr Ritu also pointed out how people rely on social media for instant cures, especially advice on TikTok. People on these platforms are mostly non-medical specialists, so following their advice may only make acne worse. Dr Ritu explained that there are no fast cures for acne.
