Dr Ritu Featured in The Sun Herald & The Age: The 5-Minute Shower Challenge That Nourishes Skin

5-Minute Shower Challenge That Nourishes Skin

Sydney specialist dermatologist, Dr Ritu Gupta, was featured in The Sun Herald & The Age for her expert views on how daily showers improve overall skin health. Taking daily showers maintains good hygiene, and the process begins before the shower itself, with dry brushing and selecting the right products.

Dr Ritu mentioned that the skin on the body is different from that on the face, as it’s thicker and can tolerate stronger formulations. Aside from using stronger moisturisers, Dr Ritu advises limiting shower time to less than five minutes to avoid drying skin and impacting the skin barrier.

After Stephanie Darling shared personal recommendations for the best products for the five-minute shower challenge, Dr Ritu provided expert advice on choosing SPF for the body. She said the best sunscreens are chemical absorbers with physical blockers (zinc or titanium). These products not only absorb UV light that damages the skin’s DNA but also block UV rays before they penetrate the skin.
