As a common cosmetic concern among middle-aged and older patients, spider veins can present as a web of purple, red, or blue veins in the legs. This appearance develops from weakened vein walls that allow blood to pool in the veins. But there is a straightforward solution to your spider veins in the form of the ND-Yag Vascular Laser device at Dr Refresh.
We utilise this laser for its ability to target the blood in your dilated leg veins and coagulate the blood to shut them down in under 30 minutes. While most veins don’t pose a serious health concern, that doesn’t mean you should continue to live with them!

Step 1: Consultation
Before receiving treatment at Dr Refresh, we ask that our patients come in for a consultation to meet with Dr Ritu Gupta or her associate dermatologists, who are specialist medical and cosmetic dermatologists, or one of her nurses and therapists. At this consultation, we want to hear from you and learn more about your concerns. We will evaluate your leg veins and determine if our spider vein removal in Ultimo is best for you. If you have deeper varicosities, Dr Ritu and her associate dermatologists may refer you for other procedures, e.g. endovenous laser ablation (EVLA).
Step 2: Treatment
The ND-Yag Vascular Laser sends thermal energy into the area and collapses the veins, sealing them off from blood flow. Your body naturally reroutes your blood into healthier veins, while the blood within the varicose veins break down and is reabsorbed into your body over time.
Step 3: Follow-Up
After undergoing treatment, you might experience some temporary redness and swelling. Usually, patients will need 2 to 3 treatments to fully treat their leg veins.

Is your laser vein treatment painful?
You will apply a local anesthetic 1 hour before beginning the procedure. Like most laser treatments, there is mild discomfort associated with this treatment, but most patients are quite comfortable.
How many sessions of spider vein removal in Ultimo will I need?
Usually, we recommend 2 to 3 treatments for spider vein removal in Ultimo. It depends on the size and number of your spider veins, but we will determine the exact number in your initial consultation.
How long will it take to see results from spider vein removal?
While you will see improvement after just one treatment, it will take several weeks for the full results to develop after several sessions. The veins that have been closed down take some time to break down and disappear from the skin’s surface.
